It’s barely been available for two days and already The Simpsons: Tapped Out has been plagued with server issues worldwide. The free-to-play game allows players to recreate Springfield after it is destroyed, and offers users the option to play for free but also provides opportunities for micro-transactions.
Currently (2nd March 2012) the server issues are causing people to lose save data, and in-game money/progress, and for those who have been paying for currency through micro-transactions, the issue could potentially be much greater for Electronic Arts.
Over 1000 “1-star” ratings have been awarded to the game by frustrated and angry gamers, and that number is bound to increase. Dropping the game’s 4.5-star rating to below 3 in a matter of hours. EA is yet to fix the issue, but we may have to wait until the weekend is over for this problem to fully go away.
